How long does Release Restriction last?

José Luis Olivares is a minor league free agent I picked up without really thinking it through.

He's 21 in Rookie Ball. He's going to have outstanding fielding, but doesn't have the range to be a middle infielder. He doesn't have the range or arm to really be an outfield. Perhaps he might be 'OK' as a 3B, but I probably want a better arm for 3B right?

He'll be a great hitter, is that enough to compensate for his defensive liabilities?

He's also my lowest ranked prospect.

I've thought about ditching him to execute some waiver claims, but he's protected by release restriction.

Does he have any redeeming value? If not, how long until I can drop him?

Your best bet is to message steve and ask if you can get him released.

Being 21 and in rookie ball I highly doubt he'll be able to hit his potential unless he gains SI very quickly.

I don't know how the restrictions work, I had them but I mainly was able to avoid them because I picked up a team that was average.

I could be highly mistaken, but if I had to guess, you will be able to release players after 3/24/16.
