Huaraches25 Joined: 05/01/2016 Posts: 151 Inactive | How high should a caught stealing percentage be, I'm training my 2nd baseman to be a Cato catcher this spring and his caught stealing has been 29 point something. I feel like thay seems pretty good, and hopefully would translate to the majors since players have the same speed more or less their whole career until they're old. | ||

newtman Joined: 11/02/2013 Posts: 3343 Inactive | First, you're on the right track, Giles would make a much better catcher than 2B with those skills. Second, you are just starting to train him at catcher, he SHOULD get better, so don't worry if 29% is too low (it is on the low side for my taste, but I've gotten by with worse). Third, it takes hundreds of games to fully train someone at catcher, so don't expect too much progress in training the position to come out of spring training, it will make progress, but likely not noticeable. |
