in spring game i had a fatigue limit set to "X" for my "SET" pitcher. He was brought in anyway.

What am i not understanding? in spring training games there deninetly should be alternatives so he shouldnt play when tired, right?

I don't know if that was supposed to happen or not, but, I know there are different rules for substitution in spring training. It doesn't use the normal season game AI.

An “X” setting on a pitcher means fatigue will be ignored, which is the opposite of what you were going for. If you don’t want him brought in when tired, either set him to “--” or take him out of the bullpen altogether.

 From the manual:

Settings:
"x" never (or no limit for fatigue limit)
"--" much less often
"-" less often
" " default setting
"+" more often
"++" much more often

I'm assuming you're talking about Ochoa. I can't see any reason he should have gotten into the game. That suggests to me that none of your available pitchers fit within your settings. Righetti was done, so someone had to come in. I'd look closely at Arellano's settings in particular. My guess is that's who you would have chosen to come in. My bet is something in your settings on him prohibited him from coming in.

Yes the game was: http://brokenbat.org/game/3259810

There was supposed to be LH-specialist. I had two of them and none were used when to new pitcher came in in 8th inning to face the LHB.

Arellano the Long Believer was carrying light fatigue from yesterday with setting '--' so thats why he didnt play.

I'd consider changing your long relievers to + or ++. They're normally the mop-up guys, so you probably want them throwing in most blowouts. Who cares if they're rested? You're trying to save your better arms for closer games.

In your instance, the game had to force a pitcher in. I have no idea who it chooses when that happens. Avoid that by loosening your restrictions so it will listen to your wishes.

Yeah, sure are mop-up guys. I was planning to use Arellano as starter against my next opponent if he's fresh.

Long time ago there was no forcing in to game, and pitchers used to throw irrealistic amount of pitches. So now its forced.

Thanks for help Mike.

EDIT: Found an answer:
If Excessive Pitch Count3
Check bullpen in the following order: SS, LR1/LR2, MR1/MR2, Setupman1/2, RHP1/RPH2, LHP1/LHP2, Closer, Unassigned
