Do older players (hitters and pitchers) who are already established on the MLB roster with no more room to improve need to play any innings in Spring Training?

Short answer: no. Spring is like 95% for youngsters only, get them more reps at a position yer training them for or what not. If you want to experiment with a veteran, try a reliever in a starting role etc, knock yerself out. But I don’t think the older guys get anything out of Spring Training (except injured).

I was wondering that myself! In real life, established MLB players need to get a few at bats in to shake off the cobwebs. Is there some sort of algorithm build in to Broken Bat which required this 'warming up' of established veterans? Or do they come out firing having had a whole season off without even rolling the arm over?
