Just started playing and I'm trying to get my team on track. I made a few changes already but want to ask the veterans if there's anything that sticks out that I should also do. Heres what I did already.
  • I hired some better coaches that are better at player development.
  • A lot of my pitchers are noted by the game as not being Major league ready so I sent a bunch of them to their suggested league, which created an issue with only 6 pitchers on my squad
  • Released some of the excess and older fielders because I figured they'd be decaying anyway even though they had some of the higher SIs. As well as one older prospect who I didn't think had a starting place.
  • Signed some relievers but all of them seem to have horrible on the field stats even though their attributes don't seem poor but I needed the pitching after demoting most of my guys
  • Set my player development to Control and Fastballs since I have 15 pitching prospects

When drafting new players is there a specific strategy? My first pick I did was I just went for a pitcher.

Also is there a link to the discord, the chat button on the site seems to not link to the server anymore.

I haven’t had the chance to really go over your team to offer advice, but I can at least provide the Discord link.

You've got a bit of a rebuild project there but some good pieces too. And some easy cuts. Firstly, don't carry 50 players. That doesn't let you put in waiver claims. I'd suggest getting your roster down to 46-47 but alot of owners will probably say I'm nuts. However, no need to carry dead weight imo just to have a full roster.

The guys that work for you, plug them in and then focus on areas of need. In something like 50 seasons, I've only cut a handful of players I regret (Burt Grisson come to mind).

I like that you're using a 5 man rotation. You obviously need more pitching depth in your pen. Takes time because pitching is the bane of almost everyone. Just make incremental moves as you see opportunities. If a guy isn't working as a starter try him in relief or vice versa.

Now for a couple of specifics, and I will add edits as needed to make sure I get names etc right.

Cut Herr your minor leagues. He isn't worth your investment. Absolute baggage. Cut Herr.

Bob Maier is ready to pitch in the bigs. I don't care what his recommendation is. You need him and he's ready to go. Put him in your starting rotation, leave him be and move one of your starters to the bullpen. Set him at 110-125 pitches and a hook of 6 or 7.

Start training Evan Braun as a first baseman.

I would cut Mauricio Mejia, Joshua Chastain and Louie Schroder to start. That will get you to 46 players and some breathing room. You won't miss those 3 or Herr. They're all busts.
