Mexico loses twice to PR for their first two losses in 2031 WC.

C'mon Mexico' hit that ball over the "wall"

I have to say, as the WC is formatted right now ... BORING. There is literally no competition until the very last round and even then there's like 10 to 1 odds the US will win.

What about an age cap of 25?
Any other ideas?

For me the world cup is boring anyway so I see no need to change. I wouldn't care if it went away completely but I do understand it gives some time for allowing teams to adjust rosters before the next season.

I don't see an age cap taking away America's huge advantage. They'll still have way more players of quality under that age than any other country.

A possible interest would be making it double elimination, losers go to a loser's bracket at play again against other losing teams, with a final face off between a team never lost and a team that only lost one series. More games, more chance to see your national team players, and more quality games and close series.

EDIT: I just did a search of position players under 25 with over 115 sp. America has 20 position players. Japan was the next closest team with 4

The World Classic is not extending the off season. The days it is played on used to be days with nothing going on, at all. So even if it's boring, it's still interesting too. More so than it used to be. Just FYI.

I thought it was a good tournament this year. The U.S. had a tough opponent in 4 of the 5 series. They played every top tier team aside from Puerto Rico and Cuba. Well earned title.

Cheers to the surprising Italy team with the run to the semis. Good fortune? Efforts of Team Italy paying dividends? A little of both?

Edit: Pat Booth lowered his career WC ERA to 0.23 this season (over 25 games). Not too shabby. :)

T-Rod finally breaking out of the World Classic funk with a .311/.358/.500 line, and 121 hits all-time. Real nice!
