That's pretty crazy if you ask me. However, I have drafted my fair share of 14s. I'm not complaining too much, but it would be nice at some point to pull a 15 (or God forbid a 16???). Anywho, I can't complain about this week's pick. I was about to draft what looked like a 11-12 POT good pitcher with control will be below average, but the very last guy on the list was Elwood Dorn. His obviously major flaw is his terrible fielding build. He's either going to be a DH, a weak-armed catcher, a slow/bad fielding 1B/3B, or a super slow right fielder. I think I'll train him at Catcher for now and hope his arm goes up to 14, which is kind of my cut off line for catchers. If worse comes to worse, I found myself a very good DH. 13 POT, very good hitter, prolific slugger, and with the low fielding/speed ratings he will have very high bat control and plate discipline. This guy does kind of remind me of Zach Simpson, who was a low-fielding, weak-armed outfielder most of his career but made up for it with his bat in a big way. We'll see. |

My pressing need is pitching help, and my prospects in that department are down in the lower end of the system. So I cut loose a FA 1B that was blocked by three other better candidates, and went to the college ranks to get Kelii Kaiwi, the purveyor of the all-day slider. Aloha, and stuff. *Ranty bits* I presume the game slotted him in AA to start since he's a college kid. The odd part is as far as SI is concerned, he's the rawest player in the entire system, and won't sniff the majors (ETA 2036)until my current Rookies have passed him. Draft purpose defeated. He'll be good, eventually, but no prompt help, and the long-term percolating continues in the congestion that is my minors. |

I need pitching - and there wasn't anything there this go around. |
