I have two pitchers currently in triple A who turned 25 for the new season. They are recommended for the majors, but I understand that this is strictly due to age. Neither one has been in Triple A long enough to get all the points they could get there. What is the accepted best practice among experienced managers for situations like this? Any other threads with discussions on this? Here are the two players: Daniel Cruz Alvin Proietti[url] Updated Monday, May 22 2017 @ 7:49:30 am PDT |

At this point when I have a player suggested for call up I factor in how high their SI is. If they are being recommended for call up but their SI is more close to my other minor leaguers than my big leaguers I am going to leave them down for now. | ||

I will probably go with that for now...that means I'll leave Proietti in Triple A for the full season and Cruz for a little more than half... Updated Monday, May 22 2017 @ 9:14:08 am PDT |

There have been many examples of AAA players who were promoted as soon as they acquired the "may have learned all he can at this level of competition" tag, who fell some way short of their SI cap minimums, let alone maximums. We can't know everything, but its learning to work with what we do know (or can guess). |
