It will be interesting to see how well Bolton can handle the stick with what I assume will wind up being some pretty average / below average bat control and plate discipline. His thump with the bat and hitting may wind up being more than serviceable, but I always struggle with expected benefits/penalties of less than optimal BC/PD. But he sure does have a sweet swing. I could see plenty of fences being cleared in his career.

Denver Broncos
IV.4

Broken Bat Baseball
Prospect:
"Madtown" Howard Evans

Acquired:
Round #4 2034 draft

Description:
Left-handed batting, high-contact, above average pull hitter that could play any position of the outfield. Not nimble on the basepaths.

Defensively, Evans has a catcher's arm in an outfielder's mold. Elected to turn down a full ride football scholarship to play quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers, a savvy move in hindsight considering the NCAA banned the sport from intercollegiate athletics in 2038 due to health concerns. Racked up 22 outfield assists in his final season at Single-A Virginia City.

Currently seeing the majority of his playing time at center field for Triple-A Winter Park.

Career highlights:
Evans batted .320 in 15 games during Spring Training this year. Has hit double digit home runs at every level of the minors. Struck out once by his own sister (a Jim Abbott-esque, one armed, left handed pitcher and current drummer for Def Leppard) in the MTV Rock N' Jock celebrity softball game in 2036.

Future:
There is every indication that Evans is Denver's future center fielder versus right-handed pitching. Projected to have his own bobblehead promotion night in year two of the bigs.

Deadwood Perambulators
II.1

Broken Bat Baseball
Prospect:
Wilson March

Acquired:
2039 Waivers, released by Corvalis

Description:
A left-handed bat with absolutely no ability with any of his appendages in the field, Wilson is something of an anomaly who can manage to run pretty fast but still somehow not cover any ground in the field. Scouts have praised his projected ability with the bat, both in terms of contact and power, but he carries some serious concerns regarding work effort and concentration. There have been reports of recreational drug use and a lack of taking his craft seriously.

To that point, after being released from Corvalis and signed by Deadwood, March legally changed his name to "January February March" after a three day bender. Ironically, his jersey sales for Deadwood have risen through the roof.

Deadwood reportedly is giving the prospect a long leash, allowing him to remain in AAA until he is major league ready or until he is too old. Deadwood ownership was reported as saying: "His upside is too great to pass up. If he can reach his potential, we can see him having a very dangerous bat while having absolutely no presence in the field at all. March is a textbook designated hitter for us. But the question remains whether he will languish in AAA until he is 27 or whether he will get his act together and become the player we think he can be."

Career highlights:
Changing his name to "January February March." Managing speed on the base paths while having no range or defensive prowess to speak of.

Future:
A giant question mark. Certainly the remainder of 2039 at AAA, and potentially the first half of 2040. Deadwood finds him worth of a spot on the 40-man, but has no immediate plans to place him in the majors, particularly with Major "Muscles" Flynn already at 1B and "My name is Alexander" Hamilton at DH.

Broken Bat Baseball
Prospect:
Emilio Munoz

Acquired:
Round #4 2034 Draft (seems to have been a solid round ;))

Description:
Able to hit with more power than most, and more contact than the rest, Munoz is the youngest star of what could be the Leopards' "Golden Generation." Time will tell if he can become its biggest.

The 22 year old has made the most of his decent foot-speed so far, stealing 168 bases in his minor league career while being thrown out just 77 times.

Munoz's strong arm makes him a great candidate for a left-side infield position. Though he struggled with fielding early in his career, scouts believe he can grow into an amazing defensive player. His less-than-stellar range means he will likely end up moving back to 3B where he spent most of his time in youth ball in Matanzas, Cuba.

Career Highlights:
In his first year of single-A ball Munoz came within .001 of a .340 batting average as well as a .500 slugging percentage, while improving his fielding percentage from .893 to .973.

Future:
With two full seasons of AA under his belt, Greenville scouts expect Munoz to crack the AAA Catawba Catamounts' line-up by the midpoint of the 2040 campaign. Once called up to the big leagues he will have to find a place in an already crowded infield that includes budding superstars Otis Price and Justin Muse.

Broken Bat Baseball

Prospect:
Loren "Great" Scott

Acquired:
2037, Waivers (29 claims)

Description:
This young Okie came with a large pedigree out of high school (14 POT). He is quite toolsy with his prolific power making him stand out from the other skinny high school kids. He has it all: 16 speed, outstanding fielding, decent arm and ok range. The only issue is he didn't have a position. Oh, and that he can't hit. Did I mention that?

Defense:
Yeah, he played C in HS, but with a 14 arm it was known that he would have to take his big bat somewhere else in the field. Though he swings a lefty bat, Coach Cornflake thought he could fill the void at 3B adequately with his righty arm.

Career highlights:
His 2039 A-ball season has been his career-best minor league season, where his slash was a very impressive .331/.413/.537/.950. He is on a similar pace so far at AA this season.

Future:
He really has enough fielding, range and arm to play almost anywhere and do nothing well. The big question is can he hit enough and into the air to make that power come into fruition? No hitting report from scouts? No way, right? Well, check out his stats in the minors first, before sticking a fork in him. What ya think now? Is he a keeper? Will he be one of the better 3B in all of BB that can barely reach 1B on his throws? For several seasons the Hood River management has made sure there has been a back-up option at 3B if "Great" Scott doesn't pan out. Yet he doesn't seem willing to give up the reigns as the top 3B prospect. "Great" Scott is trying to prove doubters wrong and that his high school pedigree wasn't a false label.

What is your vote? Will he last? Will he stay at 3B? Would he look better on your team?

Looks like a heck of a waiver pick-up Hayseed! Like you said, could play literally any position in the field but isn't an A+ fit for any of them. Maybe if his hitting improves to 12-13 he has a career as a utility fielder coming off the bench?

Would he look better on your team?

I think he would look alright in the Leopards' black and green. Put in a good word for us if you ever cut him loose ;)

Concord Jets
II.2

Broken Bat Baseball
Prospect:
Alfonso Correa

Acquired:
Drafted: 2038, Round #4

Description:
Born in Chicago in 2020 after his father was sensationally traded to the Cubs in the 2019 MLB off-season, Alfonso shows many of the qualities that made Carlos a big-league star. A potential 5-tool middle-infielder with well above-average power and a fly-ball approach, Correa is considered the Jets' #3 prospect behind Alfonzo Lara and Trevor McNeely.

Defense:
Correa has shown the ability to man any position in the infield with aplomb. In 2042, he possesses minor league fielding numbers that would put some big-leaguers to shame, suggesting near majors-ready defense. Some scouts have questioned whether he has the arm for short, but the Jets have few other SS options and are keen to try him there, and otherwise he projects as an above-average 2B.

Career highlights:
The biggest question mark in Correa's profile has been his ability to hit for average. He alleviated these concerns somewhat in 2042, slashing .274/.336/.492 in AAA, and has 20 minor-league bombs on the season.

Future:
Correa's projects to make the big-league club in late 2043. With GM-favourite Norberto Muniz having started his inevitable decline phase, Jets brass are hoping for a smooth transition to Correa as the everyday SS.

Dallas Dragons
III.4

Broken Bat Baseball
Prospect:
"Lights Out" Lazaro Bauta

Acquired:
Drafted: 2038, Round #3

Description:
The Naperville, Illinois pitcher is the younger cousin of Dallas Dragons current starter, Emilio Bauta. Described as a work horse, Lazaro is a right handed pitcher who throws three pitches. Scouts love his fastball while his slider has also helped him strike out minor league batters. Bauta has also been able to control his pitches allowing him to go deep into minor league games.

Career Highlights:
Bauta struck out 206 batters in 2041. He has also preformed well in his first season at spring training with a 3.28 ERA and 16K/3BB in 24 2/3 innings.

Future:
Lazaro Bauta is considered a future ace for the Dallas Dragons. Bauta should be up in 2043 or 2044 which means he should be able to pitch with his cousin for the first few years of his career.

Very nice. :)

The prospect I linked at the beginning of this thread (Bolton is finishing up his second season.

Things have gone pretty poorly for him. He's struggled to make contact. He's shown no power. The cherry on top is that his arm dropped this season. Struggling defensively as well.

I found another C prospect during draftmas. Bolton's days are numbered.
