In the East, Hattiesburg Hippos, who barely missed promotion by losing to Eden Prairie on the last day of 2031 is going to battle the young Lombard Raider. Off-season Changes The first off-season with the new owner brought instant changes to the team. The team is old and there were no players with good potential in the minors. The direction is clear: A total rebuilt of the team is needed. Almost the entire team was gutted and released over the winter, including former Cy Young Winner Allen Duffy (34) and 14 Pot Julio Loera (28). It was difficult to say goodbye to these players that were prominent in our team history who just simply did not fit into our long term plan. Only MVP CF and 400-hitter Samuel Foster (31), All-League 3B Yukitro Kusunoki (32), starters John Pierson (30), Jim Fletcher (32), and Nicholas Burt (32) remaining on the team from previous season. The team is restocked with veterans making minimum salaries and young players who other teams had given up on. Hopefully some of these young players will pan out to compliment our future draft picks. Most players are playing above their career average and the team is a bit lucky from the 0.318 RISP average. Hattiesburg Hippos had been the division leader for a big part of the season, and we expect a close finish in the fight for promotion. In the West, my preseason favorite Wailuku Mustangs did not run away with the division. Instead, Avondale Chili Peppers is the surprise leader at this point. With the top-5 teams all within 10 games of each other, it looks to be a hard fight in the second half of the season. Cup We got lucky in the group stage, and was able to take advantage of a rebuilding D5 Allen Armadillos to advance out of the group stage. In the first round of the knockout stage, we were able to top a strong D5 Warwick Stallions by lining up our top two starters Pierson and Luna against them. In the second round, fellow D6 Camarillo Armadillos exposed our weakness of a lack of depth and poor hitting against strong pitching. After winning game 1 behind a dependable Pierson start, we just could not muster the hitting or the pitching to win another game, losing 3-4, 0-6 in the next two. |

boltsman Joined: 04/18/2017 Posts: 109 Eden Prairie Wolves II.1 | In 2032, Eden Prairie Wolves completed a total of 34 free agent signings and 104 waiver claims. 48 [1 claim] 44 [2-10 claims] 11 [11-20 claims] 1 [21+ claims] Our team desperately needed new players at the beginning of the season, and we were extremely blessed to be able to get so many players through waiver and free agency. As a new owner, we were trying out almost anybody at the beginning, but hopefully we had improved on identifying players who are actually upgrades. |
