Rock777 Joined: 09/21/2014 Posts: 9588 Haverhill Halflings III.1	Most MLB teams carry 6 or 7 relievers total. I personally like to run with 1 LR, 2 MR, 2 SET (of various handedness), and 1 CLS. For a total of 6. If you set one of your LRs to come in the 5th or 6th inning they basically act like a MR.

Even though it doesn't happen alot, I just hate seeing a guy pitching a shutout pulled for the closer if we're up 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0, especially 3-0. Your management settings are important no matter how you assign your bullpen roles.

Rock777 Joined: 09/21/2014 Posts: 9588 Haverhill Halflings III.1	Well that's another vote for an expanded bullpen then. Another benefit of not having a dedicated closer is that this doesn't happen... I expect he'll get another 2 million bump again this year after getting another 40 saves I really think the closers need to be toned down a bit and the starters need to get a little more expensive instead.

newtman Joined: 11/02/2013 Posts: 3343 Inactive	Yeah, I went to closer by committee for the two reasons mentioned by Tiger and Rock about 4 seasons ago. I've really not seen much difference in bullpen performance either, not that it would be easy to tell the difference.

Its just unfortunately that equates to massive salary inflation. Oh well, I guess if I didn't think he was worth it I could always cut bait... I think he'll still be worth it at 7.5
