Particularly in the case of players from certain pools who have a tendancy to develop slower than others, it seems slightly more realistic to let them make or break on their own. It would also, IMHO, make tracking borderline cases slightly easier - is your 24-year-old just now making it to AAA because he's just hopeless, or will next season be the year he breaks out enough to warrant a callup at the break? In most cases, I'll admit, it's usually not hard to see where a player will end up by age 25, so removing the autorecommend probably wouldn't change that. But for a player who may be on the fringes, I'd rather he get the callup at 25 or 26 because he's ready, and not because he's 25 or 26. |
