Thinking along these lines, one way to rate these players, after release, is the amount of Waiver claims generated. This number is collected already and saved in the Transactions of the claiming team. Likewise the team who released the player is currently saved. Player SI, POT, Salary and other criteria are available as well, but the key is INTEREST, which is measured in Waiver claim counts. Code wise, I can see that actual trades would be quite a task. However, building a bank of Waiver claims generated that led to a reward of additional draft picks and/or cash rewards would return some value for released players. Just a thought on a rainy day.
