When the reliever came on and gave up the home run, the runs by those two runners were charged to the starter, so he gave up four runs and only got three runs of support. The reliever was charged with a blown save because it was a save situation due to the starter having completed at least five innings. Updated Monday, April 3 2017 @ 2:00:53 pm PDT |

The go ahead run gets charged to Dougherty giving him the loss, and in the same moment, Roberts gets a BS because it has the home-run he allowed that 'blew it'. | ||

Pitcher gets a loss then guy on same team gets a BS and BS happened in sixth inning B. Dougherty gets the loss because he was responsible for the two runners that were on base when Roberts came into the game, then Roberts allowed a HR to the first batter he faced scoring 3 runs, two of those runs were B. Dougherty runs, the other was the Roberts ER. When Roberts came to pitch the Rippers had a 1 run lead, he pitched a full inning, so it was a save situation, which he blew. A blown save is charged to a pitcher who enters a game in a situation which permits him to earn a save, but who instead allows the tying run to score. Such a situation includes a pitcher entering the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitching for at least one inning, entering the game with the potential tying run either on base, at bat, or on deck, or pitching for at least three innings to close out a game. |

He couldn't have earned a save because the starting pitcher couldn't have earned the win due to not pitching five innings. You have to be in a save opportunity to get a blown save. |
