No matter what the scouting reports said, I never got a player higher than a 12 POT. Probably half of my drafts had the best choice as "above average overall potential." There were no real keepers for me this year. I would have given anything for at least a 13....

Only one draftee below 12 pot, but the others weren't anything spectacular either. 4 were catch and release, another 3 are filler type guys I probably won't keep around for long. Only 2 are definite keepers, and even those are somewhat... longshotish.

As mentioned elsewhere it was a really good first draft for me, outside of my 1st and 6th round picks, both 11 pot 2B with poor builds/appearance, even though the latter had a good description: Carl Dixon. Otherwise:- 2nd round: Tomas Torres. High range and arm but young enough that he might develop into a very good pitcher. 13 pot. 3rd round: Jeremy Johnson. Him and Torres are my #2 and #3 prospects, which is nice considering I had no pitching prospects of note before they came along - I'd released all the dross that was left over. 13 pot. 4th round: Morimichi Kobayashi. Like this guy for The Usual Suspects reference alone. Might be an average (or very average) bat but amazing fielder so I've been playing him at SS, both because he's a decent fit there and because I have no-one at SS beyond my 31-yo starter. 13 pot. 5th round: Luis Miranda. Not much of a hit tool for a 1B but a 14 pot, so could develop into something useful. 7th round: Korey Suzuki. Another no hit, outstanding fielder. A great range, good arm, righty-thrower - unsuited for 1B so I've been playing him at SS too, adding a third tier after Kobayashi. 14 pot. 8th round: Alonzo Rosario. Not much to report, but a good arm, 13 pot C. 9th round: Jalen Polk. A 12 pot with an 18 arm isn't ideal, but he's gained a couple of SI already and hey, it's the 9th round! 10th round: Mateo Moran. "He can be a great hitter. He can develop into an above average slugger. He is not very fast. He will always be a poor fielder. He has good overall potential." He's got a 19 Arm but he's almost certainly a DH-only. In round 10 though? Got to be happy. |

If he was a POT 12, he'd probably be an upgrade over my best 3B prospect. Moran is a lefty, so that is one strike against him as a catcher. I might just keep him in RF. I think 9 range is tolerable for a corner OF, and his arm would be an asset for RF. He'll also probably be fine at 1B. Meadows has the "atrocious fielder" scouting report, and he has played pretty solid at 1B for me. Moran should have even better fielding. Suzuki has a nice SS build. Hopefully his batting will pan out for you. Lacking both a power and a hitting scout report isn't great. Regardless, he should be a solid defensive player. I don't like Miranda's build, but he is a POT 14. I don't usually keep guys like that, but a lot of other folks would have a different view. Kobayashi is another guy who's build I would find frustrating. A little sub-par for range at SS, but he should be a decent stand-in for now, and maybe a backup long term. Johnson and Torres definitely look like a nice pair of pitchers. Updated Wednesday, April 6 2016 @ 4:03:00 pm PDT |

You're right on Moran as a RF with that arm, 9 Fielding isn't that bad. Will have to get him his capital 1B first and then get that in. (edit) And I think I'd find a spot for Meadows just about anywhere with those batting numbers, and the heck with how he fields! Updated Wednesday, April 6 2016 @ 3:56:26 pm PDT |

But they're all tantalising enough to keep around long-term and see if they develop into high as opposed to low ceiling guys. |
