Has anyone actually done this before? How did it turn out? This is something I have considered doing but eventually backed off from with certain players. And keeping a guy just so he can get a record (a la John Butler) is not how I mean that.
Just curious about your thoughts

Haven't done it before, but considering it withHardy. Will see how he does this season, and how training update #0 goes next season.

How that guy got an all-star berth at age 42 beats me.

I don't think there is a hard and fast age, because guys decline at different rates. Especially for guys who were fully developed POT 15s or 16s, they can still perform at high levels even after declining a bit.

I have yet to have a guy I thought was worth it, but "Prince" Josh Hastings might make it past 35 if he ages gracefully.

Agree with Rock, had a 35yo last year who performed pretty well. Had to drop him because he lost 7 SI and was not going to be good enough for LL III, but on lower levels you could surely milk one more year out of him. Too bad he retired right after I dropped him ;)

I cut Ayers years ago, and never regretted it. Pretty sure he would have continued to play horribly at the higher levels, but at 37 he has maintained solid performance down at LL6.
