I think the hitting development rate is fairly realistic even though it borders on the slow side, but fielding is seriously lethargic. It seems fair and lifelike to penalize youngsters' offensive production; their fielding penalty, however, is extremely punitive. For example, I have a 27 year-old who just popped his fielding skill to 12. He is listed with outstanding potential, so he probably has another 3 pops to go. Can you imagine a 27 year-old professional ball player being with an organization for 6 years, playing the same position the whole time and them saying, "yeah, he's at about 80% of what he will be when he's done developing his fielding skills"? Right. |
