Broken Bat Baseball
2017 World Baseball Classic

Was watching Israel vs. Taiwan for a couple innings last night. Was kind of interesting. Was surprised that Israel beat Taiwan. Not sure if the Israeli players were actually all from Israel or just linked somehow to the country (Americans whose grandparent was from there kind of thing). Do people play much baseball in Israel??

I think the game was in Seoul, Korea....but the ballpark was just empty.

Israel now 2-0 with wins against Taiwan and Korea: WBC bracket

I guess they're for real.

Saw the USA roster...it's not great. Pitching doesn't look very strong.

I suspect a lot of the Israeli players are just linked to the country somehow. According to Wikipedia, Sam Fuld was born in New Hampshire.

I seem to recall Anthony Rizzo playing for Team Italy in a previous WBC, so I think that's fairly common.

Anybody see Eric Gagne? I thought he was just a roids guy (and oh how his body has changed now that he's off), but he's actually pitching pretty good.
