inhaleabattle Joined: 09/16/2013 Posts: 19 Inactive	Though I'm sure there'll be some who are pretty upset, I want to just point out that Steve runs this ship on his own and, despite a hiccup or two, this game has turned into something a lot of us enjoy thoroughly. Not going to get too bent out of shape and I suggest nobody does. With that being said, I think I speak for everyone in saying that I can't wait for the game to start progressing again. How long do you see it taking before the natural progression resumes?

AmUnRA Joined: 06/17/2012 Posts: 299 Inactive	I know 'beep happens' like Forest Gump said but starting the season 2-8 because of incomplete lineup is something i have to complain about. Never had that before and i dont want to miss the playoffs becaused of "bugged" 6 games back.

Or just jump ahead to 2016and have a strike shortened 2015? NO ONE SHOULD BE UPSET for this glitch, even those who got top notch FAs since they will probably stay on your team Thanks again for a game that helps me waste time and keep up the hard work Steve!!!

My suggestion is, since we can't clean up the mess, this would probably be a good opportunity to flush everybody down to div VI, reset the game and give people new teams. Fresh start for all.

admin Joined: 01/27/2010 Posts: 5035 Administrator	Basically what happened is that we’d been reliably backing up the databases from essentially season 1. Over time the database grew in size. Apparently it grew too large for the output file; however this is never flagged or noted anywhere. The resulting file is just truncated and compressed and the remaining tables in the database are just non-existent. So even though we had a backup file to roll back to, it was apparently incomplete. So now we are certainly going through the process of proving that future backups will indeed allow us to recover. However, that doesn’t help us with our current situation. I apologize for the poor communication the past week. I was traveling, so my ability to work on the problem and converse with the hosting service was limited. Steve

I can understand how people are upset...you're getting shafted out of a Spring Training and the first week or so of regular season games. This has also been somewhat trying for me. I felt that I had everything appropriately backed up, then when I get back from my trip, I find out that the backups are incomplete. Steve

The season will still be a full 160 games plus cup. Thanks again for a game that helps me waste time and keep up the hard work Steve!!! Thanks for the support. Steve

Well, as much as I think this is a mess and am upset that it happened, I don’t think it’s so big that it warrants a complete reset. We’re talking about a handful of games after 14 seasons of play & history. Having played these games (like Hattrick) for a long time, the one aspect of these types of games that I really enjoy is the building of a team and watching my young players grow into stars. Despite this brief interruption, I think most people would like to see that continue. Steve

As with any other signed players Unless i'm mistaken nothing is starting fresh, what you see now is what you get just matches won't start until the date the schedule is at now arrives which is oct11.

As with any other signed players Since the full rollback isn't possible, I think these FAs should return to waivers, at least those that were claimed by multiple teams. If my team had been assigned any of those claimed players, I wouldn't feel right having them just because the system malfunctioned and favored my team in the process. I'd be releasing those players the moment I finished reading this announcement.

Yes, I realize that people were shut out of stadium re-sizing and re-location. I think I will probably open that up until the season “re-starts”. Stay tuned for an announcement on that. Steve
