The Ravens' pleasantly unexpected draft continues.

After having never pulled a 15 POT in four game seasons, we pull our second one this year:

Juan Manuel Aparicio

I almost didn't take him because he didn't have plus hitting text. Had a lot of pitching choices, but none of them stood out. Gambled on the "very good." Hoping the hitting and fielding maxes to best possible for no report. Not sure what I want to do defensively with him yet. SS is tempting despite the mediocre fielding. Could use a rangey center fielder but eh... I dunno'. He's only 16! There's time to mull it over.

Nice pick. I think that despite any fielding report it might be worth a shot to give Aparicio SS training, although I doubt he tops 12 in that skill. Will make a fine outfielder in any case.

I was going to go Latin myself but there was a very good pot HS player who was one of my choices in round one that hadn't come out yet, so went there and got a C&R. Which was quite a relief, have a bit of a roster crunch at the moment.

My best pick so far this season. Definitely a future right fielder. http://brokenbat.org/player/156522

The Hielanders' completely expected draft continues.

After having never pulled a 15 POT in fourteen game seasons, we pulled a "good potential" POT 10.

Nothing exceptional this week.

only 1 "good" player on the list, a 12 pot without hitting report, C&R.

Releasing a 13 pot P to make room for the draft was painful, but had to be done.

Had a lot of choice this week. 2 very goods and 2 goods. Went for the very good with a good hitting report. Turned out to be a 12 pot. http://brokenbat.org/player/156518 Released.

@Rock777 Yikes! I just looked over your draft history. I'll just uh... tone it down a little bit. I don't want to be "that guy." I guess I should feel super lucky this year. Remind me later to not complain when I have a string of 20 bad draft picks.

I thought I'd look around Asia for some bullpen help. Heck it's worth a try. Instead I found a guy that can straight up play second base with 19 range. Tomohiro "Tommy Yommy" Yamaguchi. 13 pot. Now if he can hit, that'd be huge. If he has power or can steal bases, also huge.

Feeling really fortunate today. Carmello Marroquin may have to be moved to SS to make room for Tommy if he works out.

Got this guy this week. A nice pick for the fifth round and will be a future OF.

A strange good pick for this far into the draft. He'll strike out too much and never walk, but he might be able to make up enough ground everywhere else, especially center field, to play. Since he's already capital OF, he'll also become an experiment at short as a lefty.

I got a 14 pot Latin American outfielder. This has been a crazy good draft class for me

I continue my terrible drafting... an 11 potential "good potential" in the 5th round. Still only gotten two fringe picks this season. The road forward is looking bleaker every day.

Selected this guy in the draft this morning, the best sounding player of a pretty lame bunch, and have noticed that he is now my #2 ranked prospect... which either says that I've undervalued him as a draftee or my prospects are pretty terrible.

I think my scouts must have seen Scott Hoff while he was on an unusually hot streak if they’re calling a 12 POT “very good potential.” Not an immediate C&R, but rather underwhelming.

I got pretty excited at this guy's scouting report but 11pt just won't cut it.

@multitoemike actually he shouldn't strike out too much. Based on top end averages for everything else he'll have 12-15si left for bc/pd

@lostraven, LOL, its no biggie. Somebody just has to keep expectations grounded. That seems to be the role of my team, LOL.

Well, for the 5th round Waterloo actually got a player with some pretty good scouting. 17, R/R, good hit, really quick, outstanding glove. Needed to high roll his above average potential, but the dice were cold. A lottery ticket worth playing.

Crossed my fingers and toes and took a 21yo Cuban with good pot.
(amazing D + left-handedness + no hitting comment ... can't turn out much better than that)

Hope he learns fast.

Funny feelings when your draft is salvaged by rounds 4 and 5... Picked up Orozco; he's perhaps a bit older than would be ideal but should end up having a good bat and slotting in as a capable 1B.
