One rep for me, representing Cuba.

More importantly though, New Zealand makes an appearance! Against all-time rivals Australia too, fingers crossed..........

I have representatives for both Jamaica and Hong Kong, so someone on my team is going to make it to the second round. It should be fun seeing how pitcher and catcher do when facing each other instead of acting as battery mates.

Eight selected, five playing. Spain and Argentina are likely to get trounced by perennial Final Four teams in the first round, but South Korea, Hong Kong, and the Netherlands have reasonable chances at advancing. My France, Croatia, and Guam representatives are sitting out.

At present, they don't have enough players to make the top-32 teams for the Classic.

Schubert made the Swiss National Team for the 11th straight season. Too bad the Swiss have NEVER been able to field a full team, because Schubert is actually good enough to play for one of the smaller countries in the cup, or was in his prime.

Medina for the 6th year in a row has represented Cuba, and is my only representative this year.

My only representative, Yoshii from Japan, is dominant so far in 2 starts.

Korea with the upset...four great match-up for round #3:

Colombia vs. Venezuela
South Korea vs. Puerto Rico
Russia vs. Canada
Mexico vs. Jamaica

Can Russia or Jamaica get to round #4?

Unimpressed with the AI's usage of Rosa this season, 2/3 of an inning so far for Puerto Rico. Rosa was dominant in his only relief appearance, which is more than can be said for a couple of the SPs for Puerto Rico, but hopefully he will play better during the season with less usage in the World Classic.

Who are the favorites? Maybe Puerto Rico or Mexico? Can Canada finally close out a classic?

My catcher is on Mexico's roster and hitting an ok .254 in the classic. .314 vs LHP, but only .194 vs righties. Go Mexico!

Canada couldn't close out Puerto Rico after going up 2-1. Poor Canucks.

All of PR's semi and final games decided by one or two runs. Intense.

On the personal side, my man Perez for Mexico had a strange WC. He had an embarrassing .167 BA, but cranked out 5 homers in just 48 at bats, his highest homer rate ever. 5 homers, 2 doubles, 1 single. How weird is that?

As an aside, it would be cool to have an all-time World Cup leaderboard. In theory. If you know me, you know I don't want Steve wasting time on such things. Who can beat 19 homers by Perez? I bet he's really high for non-Americans.
